The number of employees in the banking sector reached 38.5 thousand in Q3 2025, 16 fewer than a year ago. The banking sector reached its highest number of employees (the time series starts in 2008) in Q3 2018, at 42 thousand. While 1.47% of GDP was accounted for by client loans per thousand employees in that period, it is now 1.49% of GDP. At the beginning of 2008, 1.17% of GDP was accounted for by client loans per thousand employees.
